Quick answer: The cheapest way from Incheon Airport to Seoul is the AREX all-stop train (공항철도 일반열차): ₩4,750 and 59 minutes from Terminal 1 to Seoul Station on a transit card. The AREX Express is faster (43 minutes, ₩13,000) but only goes to Seoul Station. Limousine buses cost ₩17,000 and drop you near hotels, and a taxi on Seoul’s fixed zone fare costs ₩70,000–95,000 including tolls.
Fares below are adult fares from the operators’ Korean pages (AREX, Airport Limousine, Incheon Airport, Seoul Metropolitan Government), checked on 10 October 2026. Many English guides still quote the old ₩9,500 Express fare and a ₩4,150 all-stop fare.
What’s the fastest and cheapest way from Incheon Airport to Seoul?
The all-stop train is the cheapest, and the Express train is the fastest to Seoul Station. Buses and taxis win when your hotel is far from a station or you have heavy bags.
| Option | Time to central Seoul | Adult fare | Runs (weekday, from the airport) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AREX all-stop (일반열차) | 59 min from T1, 66 min from T2 to Seoul Station | ₩4,750 from T1, ₩5,350 from T2 | 05:14 to 23:38 from T1 to Seoul Station | Budget, Hongdae, transfers to the subway |
| AREX Express (직통열차) | 43 min from T1, 51 min from T2 | ₩13,000 | 05:24 to 22:48 from T1 | Seoul Station hotels, a guaranteed seat |
| Limousine bus (공항리무진) | Depends on traffic | ₩17,000 | Route 6001: 05:39 to 22:49 from T2 | Hotels on a bus route, lots of luggage |
| Late-night bus (심야버스) | 60 min to Seoul Station on N6701 | ₩17,000–18,000 | About 23:40 to 04:50 from T1 | Landing after the last train |
| Taxi, fixed zone fare | Depends on traffic | ₩70,000–95,000 incl. tolls | 24/7 (book online 24 hours ahead) | Groups of 3–4, late arrivals, door-to-door |
Weekday timetables are shown, and weekends and holidays can differ slightly. Terminal 2 trains start one stop earlier, so they take a few minutes longer and cost a little more.
AREX Express or all-stop train: which should you take?
Take the all-stop train unless you’re staying near Seoul Station and want a reserved seat. It’s ₩8,250 cheaper from T1, only 16 minutes slower, and stops at stations that connect to the subway.
All-stop train (일반열차). You tap in with a T-money card like the subway, and the fare depends on where you get off. From T1, it’s ₩4,750 to Seoul Station (서울역), ₩4,650 to Hongik University (홍대입구) and ₩4,350 to Gimpo Airport. From T2, add ₩600. It connects to Line 2 at Hongik Univ., Lines 5 and 6 at Gongdeok, and Lines 1 and 4 at Seoul Station.
Express train (직통열차). It runs nonstop between the airport and Seoul Station, with assigned seats and free WiFi, every 30 to 65 minutes. Children aged 6–12 pay ₩9,500. Some late all-stop trains terminate at Digital Media City (디지털미디어시티), so check the destination on the board after 23:30.
How to ride:
- Follow the train signs to the Transportation Center (교통센터) on B1 at either terminal.
- Express: buy a ticket before boarding at the Express Train Customer Service Center on B1, or online. AREX also lists partner discounts reached through partner websites and QR codes, and online-only discounts can’t be combined. Resellers such as Klook also sell discounted Express vouchers; check the price against ₩13,000 and follow the voucher’s redemption steps.
- All-stop: tap a T-money card at the gate, or buy a single-journey card (1회용 교통카드) from the machine. It costs ₩100 more plus a ₩500 deposit, which you get back at your destination station.
- Tap out at your destination.
The Climate Card short-term pass can’t be used to board at the airport. Our T-money vs Climate Card guide explains which card to buy for the ride in.
How do the airport limousine buses work?
Airport Limousine (공항리무진) buses cost ₩17,000 for adults and ₩12,000 for children to central Seoul, and they stop outside many hotels. Check the route map for a stop near your hotel before you choose the bus.
Route 6001 is a typical example: it runs from T2 via T1 to Seoul Station, Myeongdong (명동) and Dongdaemun. The first bus leaves T2 at 05:39 and the last at 22:49, every 10–25 minutes. Seating is first-come, first-served and there’s no online booking. The operator says the times change with traffic and weather.
Where to buy tickets:
- Staffed ticket counters: T1 1st floor, inside Gates 4, 6, 9 and 11 (05:40–22:20; the Gate 4 counter stays open except 01:30–03:30). T2 basement level 1 (04:00–24:00).
- Ticket kiosks (무인발권기): T1 1st floor near Gates 4, 7, 8 and 11, and T2 B1 near the waiting area and bus platforms. Kiosks run 24 hours.
- At T2 you must have a ticket before boarding. City-side stops accept a transit card or cash.
The bus beats the train if your hotel is right on the route, or if you’d rather not haul bags through stations and up stairs.
How much is a taxi from Incheon Airport to Seoul?
For a predictable price, use Seoul’s fixed zone fare (구간요금제): ₩70,000 to ₩95,000 for a regular taxi, including tolls. A metered taxi has no fixed price. It charges Seoul’s normal rates plus tolls and any late-night surcharge.
The zone fares come from Seoul Metropolitan Government and apply to International Taxi (인터내셔널택시), the city’s officially designated taxi with English-, Chinese- and Japanese-speaking drivers.
| Zone | Seoul districts (구) | Regular taxi | Deluxe/large taxi |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Gangseo | ₩70,000 | ₩100,000 |
| B | Yangcheon, Guro, Yeongdeungpo, Mapo, Eunpyeong, Seodaemun | ₩75,000 | ₩110,000 |
| C | Geumcheon, Gwanak, Dongjak, Yongsan, Jung, Jongno | ₩85,000 | ₩120,000 |
| D | Seocho, Gangnam, Seongdong, Dongdaemun, Seongbuk, Gangbuk | ₩90,000 | ₩130,000 |
| E | Songpa, Gangdong, Gwangjin, Jungnang, Nowon, Dobong | ₩95,000 | ₩140,000 |
Myeongdong is in Jung-gu (zone C), Hongdae is in Mapo-gu (zone B), and Gangnam is zone D. Book online at least 24 hours ahead, or ask at the airport information desk. International Taxi takes Korean won cash and foreign Visa, Mastercard and Amex cards.
Metered taxis cost ₩4,800 for the first 1.6 km, then ₩100 per 131 m or per 30 seconds in slow traffic. Tolls are charged at cost on top of the meter. Incheon Airport is a shared taxi zone with Seoul, so there’s no out-of-city surcharge on the way in. After dark the fare rises: +20% from 22:00 to 23:00 and 02:00 to 04:00, and +40% from 23:00 to 02:00.
Where to catch one:
- Ignore anyone in the arrivals hall offering a ride. Incheon Airport warns that call vans posing as taxis overcharge visitors.
- Go to the official rank outside arrivals on the 1st floor: 5C, 6C or 6D at T1, or 7C at T2, for regular Seoul taxis.
- For International Taxi, use rank 4C at T1 or 3C at T2. Deluxe and large taxis wait at 7C/8C (T1) and 7D (T2).
What if you land late at night?
You can still get to Seoul by public transport after the last train, but only on four late-night bus routes from T1. The last Express leaves T1 at 22:48, and the last all-stop train to Seoul Station leaves T1 at 23:38 on weekdays.
| Night bus (from T1) | Goes to | Adult fare | Departures from T1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| N6000 | Gangnam Express Bus Terminal | ₩17,000 | 00:10, 00:50, 01:30, 02:10, 03:40, 04:20 |
| N6002 | Hongdae, Cheongnyangni | ₩17,000 | 00:00, 00:30, 01:00, 01:40, 04:00, 04:40 |
| N6701 | Mapo, Seoul Station, Euljiro, DDP | ₩18,000 | 23:50, 00:40, 01:40, 03:45, 04:40 |
| N6703 | Seorae Village, COEX, Jamsil, Gwangnaru | ₩18,000 | 23:40, 00:20, 01:05, 01:45, 03:50, 04:50 |
Buy a ticket at a staffed counter or the 24-hour kiosk before you board. Between 02:10 and 03:40 no night bus leaves T1, so if you land in that window, a taxi on the zone fare may make more sense.
Which option should you pick?
Start from where you’re sleeping, then think about your bags and the clock.
- Pick the all-stop train if you’re on a budget, staying near Hongdae, Gongdeok or Seoul Station, or happy to change to the subway.
- Pick the Express train if your hotel is at Seoul Station or you want a guaranteed seat with your luggage. It’s the same Seoul Station as the all-stop train, 16 minutes sooner.
- Pick a limousine bus if a route stops at or near your hotel, especially in Myeongdong, Dongdaemun or Gangnam.
- Pick a taxi if you’re three or four people, traveling with small children, or landing after 23:00. The ₩85,000 zone fare to Myeongdong split four ways is about ₩21,000 each, not far above a ₩17,000 bus ticket.
FAQ
Can I pay for the AREX all-stop train with T-money?
Yes. AREX charges all-stop fares by prepaid or postpaid transit card. Without one, buy a single-journey card from the machine for ₩100 extra plus a ₩500 deposit, refunded at your destination.
Is the AREX Express worth ₩13,000?
Only if your hotel is near Seoul Station and you value a reserved seat. The all-stop train to the same station costs ₩4,750 from T1 and takes 59 minutes instead of 43.
Do airport taxis in Korea charge for tolls?
On a metered ride, Seoul’s rules say tolls are charged at cost when the passenger agrees to a toll road. The Yeongjong Bridge (airport expressway) toll for a car was cut from ₩6,600 to ₩3,200 in 2023. The International Taxi zone fare already includes tolls.
Is Terminal 2 more expensive?
Slightly. The AREX all-stop fare from T2 to Seoul Station is ₩5,350 instead of ₩4,750, and the trip takes 66 minutes. The Express and limousine bus fares are the same from both terminals.
What’s the latest train from Incheon Airport to Seoul?
On weekdays, the last AREX Express leaves T1 at 22:48 and the last all-stop train to Seoul Station leaves T1 at 23:38. After that, use the late-night buses or a taxi.
